HEARING PROGRAM
Guelph Lions Club
Hearing Program
When left untreated, hearing loss reduces earning
power, disrupts relationships and causes a wide array of
psychological problems. It can also be an issue for
children and young adults. Hearing loss negatively
affects academic performance and language
development needed for classroom learning and
vocational achievement. Treating a hearing loss,
however, can often seem difficult for those on a limited
income. Someone with hearing loss doesn’t have to
stand for the status quo – modern hearing aids are an
effective solution to these problems.
What is our hearing project?
It is an alliance between the Guelph Lions Club, and
multiple hearing care partners for accessible hearing
care assisting income-qualified people with hearing loss
in Guelph to access quality hearing aids and related
care.•
How Does it Work ?
How does the program work?
Income requirements are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but
recipients must be low-income. The hearing program is a provider of
last resort. All other options for service must be used before
assistance can be approved.
Where does one apply?
To qualify, Guelph residents with hearing loss must complete an
application through a health committee, provide proof of
identification, and be financially eligible to receive assistance.
Who can apply?
Candidates who do not have a suitable working hearing aid and are
financially unable to purchase a hearing aid may apply.
